World’s First Church Dedicated
to St. Carlo Acutis Inaugurated
in India.
Kochi, September 7, 2025: In a historic moment for the Catholic Church, the world’s first church dedicated to St. Carlo Acutis was inaugurated in Kakkanad, Kerala, South India, under the Archdiocese of Verapoly.
The blessing ceremony was held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 5:30 PM ( Indian Time), and was led by Most Rev. Dr Joseph Kalathiparambil, The Archbishop of Verapoly. The church, located on the Kakkanadu – Wonderla–Pallikara route, also houses a relic of St. Carlo Acutis, offering devotees a sacred opportunity for veneration.
Known as the “Cyber Saint”, St Carlo Acutis was declared the Saint of the Millennium by Pope Leo XIV. Carlo dedicated his life to proclaiming God’s love and mercy, especially through his deep devotion to the Holy Eucharist. He created a website to share details of Eucharistic miracles and Marian apparitions from around the world, inspiring millions of faithful.
A computer prodigy, Carlo used his technological skills to evangelize in the digital age, effectively spreading the Gospel and Christian values through modern communication platforms and social networks. His life continues to inspire young believers globally, especially in a world increasingly shaped by technology.
